It’s something about those pitched 909 crashes that keeps me listening to this over and over again. Chris Liebing’s mix adds a choir synth and some effects to shake things up a bit, but since all you really need are the cymbals you might as well stick with the original.
This is a beatport exclusive for now, so you have to head on over to their new and improved website to grab it. A search for an artist and a track name still doesn’t come up with any results, but at least they’ve added a button so you can link straight to the page you’re on.

Posted by flat20 in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farChristmas and new years is over and I just came back from a crazy week in Sweden with nothing to show for it apart from a three day fever I came down with as soon as I got back to London. Three days in bed means three days wasted if you ask me, but at least I kept my head clear enough to crawl to the laptop, push play on winamp and make it back to bed again. What I’m trying to say is that I’m sorry for the lack of updates and I haven’t given up listening to music!
So, here’s one of my favorite producers, The Bulgarian. He’s got a quite identifiable crazy fidgety house sound, yet every one of his tracks seems so different from each other. Not sure how that works really, you better just listen for yourselves. Disfunktional Caterpillar is an all time favorite and the first of his tracks I heard. The bassline kills it!

Tomorrow I’m off to Eastbourne to celebrate Christmas with my housemate and his family. Them being English, and me being Swedish, my present to them will be some Swedish music and dvds. Unfortunately I couldn’t find much Swedish music besides Robyn and Basshunter in the shop, so of course I went for Basshunter.
But right now I’m definitely not in the mood for either Basshunter or Christmas music but I am in the mood for some good funk however, courtesy of Sharon Jones and her crew.

Eminem not so official mixtape December 3, 2008
Posted by flat20 in : Music , add a commentI can’t say I love hip-hop but I did buy Eminem’s 1999 album “The Slim Shady LP” and so I’m giving this a listen anyway. The later albums haven’t been very interesting but maybe a low-fi bootlegged mixtape is just what I need to get back in to it. Not sure how “official” this is since most of the tracks except for one are old, but hey, it’s Eminem so it’s worth a shot even if it isn’t “official”.

The BBC News website reported yesterday that some of the largest online music sites in Britain have gotten together and created a “MP3 compatible” logo which will show customers that the music they buy from the sites involved will be playable on any mp3 player, DRM free. I couldn’t find the logo on either 7digital, Woolworths or HMV, but perhaps their designers deemed it unfit for display since it’s not exactly pretty to look at?
I guess this is good for people still unaware about the difference between protected and unprotected music formats but those people are also likely to belong to the “As long as I can play it on my iPod I’m happy” category, and therefore won’t care very much about something like this. But still, it can’t hurt!
